Style Spotlight: Solange

Happy Sunday, odd ducks.

Today’s post of #stylespiration is centered around one of the best currently doing it style-wise, in my opinion: Solange.

But, who is Solange?

In case you have been hiding under a rock or just aren’t keeping up on your popular culture (who can blame you, if you aren’t with all the pseudo celebs out now), Solange is the younger sister of Beyoncé.

Solange has really come into her own person and has made quite a name for herself aside from being just Beyoncé’s little sister. Removing yourself from out of the spotlight of your very talented sibling is a feat that probably isn’t the easiest, but Solange is able to make it all look effortless through her unique music and personal style.

Over the past couple of years, I have become quite a big fan of Solange. Whatever the occasion or event, she sure knows how to shine.

Her style is definitely one of her own; very eclectic and funky. Most of her style choices consist of mixed prints and playing with color, two aspects of fashion that I too love to experiment with.

solangeI mean, just look at that first pantsuit! Some may look at her outfits and shy away from their boldness, but I enjoy the risks that she tasks.

No matter what anyone thinks, one thing is certain: she stays true to her self, and that is what is most important.

The Law of Luxury: The Man behind Zendaya

Many times we often forget about those behind the scene who make the celebs we adore, what we adore. Clothing, hair, make-up, demeanor—basically the whole contrivance of their image is a work in progress to get everything perfect. The same can be said for one of my fashion inspirations at the moment: Zendaya, or should I say Luxury Law to be exact.

For the past few months or so, I have grown increasingly obsessed with Zendaya’s looks. For an 18-year-old, she always looks so fashion forward for both her age and compared to what everyone else is wearing at the moment.

I enjoy that she is unafraid to take risks and every look she wears, she owns through her exuberant personality. She has become quite the little fashionista.

Palazzos, Tribals, and Lace

This weekend was very interesting. Friday night kicked off the beginning of a long homecoming weekend. I participated in lots of fun-filled events and activities with friends. Since this homecoming marked the very last one before I graduate (tear, tear), I wanted to go for something a bit different in my outfits: Screenshot_2014-10-12-19-55-28-1 Continue reading

Turning ‘Seasonal’ Attire into Year-Round

Many people would probably argue that playsuits, high waisted shorts, and vibrant colors are seasonal. I am not one of those people. In fact, I think wearing them year-round, “off season”, is even more an indicator of one’s fashion daringness and sense of style. I mean, who decided these things were seasonal anyway? That is about as ludicrous as the “no white after labor day” rule. The beginning of fall just means it’s time to play it up, that’s all. But, I digress.

I’m a huge fan of hosiery, socks, and beautiful colors and patterns. Being that I am, I tend to incorporate the four into most of the things that I wear. This is also how I am able to wear, shorts for example, in the middle of October. How? Well, Taking the elements of season (weather, feel) into account and then adding what I love is all that I do.
